Confusion with sizing

"I own 5 pairs of the field pants (never too many!)… I order a size down to XS for the denim but sized up to the lighter summer weight poplin. When I saw this new color and the option of a long inseam for colder months I immediately ordered both the XS regular and XS long. For some reason the XS long did not fit. I could barely button them. The waist was so much smaller even though the measurements are the same on the web site. I sent them back and kept my XS in regular length. The color and style are the best, but sizing was really confusing!"
